"Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16). There are two parts to this light. One is the Light the Word
shines in us and the other is us, shining the light we have in our world. So
we have the duty of absorbing the light for use but it doesn’t stop there. When talking about
John the Baptist, the bible says, "He was a burning and a shining light:
and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.” (John 5:35). When talking about Jesus, the
bible says, “The people which sat in
darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of
death light is sprung up.” (Matthew 4:16). When talking about us, the bible
says, "Ye are the light of the
world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a
candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light
unto all that are in the house.” (Matthew 5:14-15).
We are required to shine the light to our
world. The
light does a great work in us but it doesn’t have to stop there for us. We have
the duty of letting out the same light in the world. The reason for the problem
the church of Jesus has is that every light is waiting for Sunday to shine and
so the light in church is too much thus blinding many from the responsibilities
required for progress. We neglect the fact that we get light in church to go
out and shine in our families, schools, working places, businesses from Monday
to Saturday. People should see Jesus wherever you are. People should experience
love radiating from you. Whatever Jesus would have done if He were here, that’s
what you should do. You are the light in your world. Shine!
