A MERRY HEART

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. (Proverbs 17:22)It has been proven by psychologists that a happy mood and full belly laughter increases the endorphin level in the brain, and releases antioxidants that help the body fight diseases. This chain reaction that joy sparks off gives life and hope to the cells of the body. This was discovered a long time ago in the Bible days before the doctors and psychologists of our time confirmed it. “A merry heart doeth good like medicine…” Paraphrased, it means that joy does to your body what medicine can do. Depression on the other hand achieves the opposite. The Bible says, “…it drieth the bones.”

Joy is not a human response to circumstances. It is not what you do when things are going well and not do when things change negatively. It is a decision from the heart to be merry no matter what. It cannot be done by the human nature no matter how hard tried. Your flesh cannot accomplish it. That is why the Holy Spirit was sent to those who receive.  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (Romans 14:17). Joy is the second-named fruit of the Spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,”   (Galatians 5:22). That is the difference between the unbeliever and a true believer. The rich unbeliever cannot sleep at night and is unhappy about many things while the not yet rich believer is singing songs of praise even when expectations have not yet been met.

If you have not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that is the first thing to do to access the joy that the world cannot explain. Read topics on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit for more information on how to receive.
