I know thy works, that thou art
neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art
lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:15-16). Nothing
annoys God like people who don’t know where they stand; people who are one leg
here, one leg there. It is worse when those people are believers who don’t want
to fully identify with the savior. In church, they are churchy and holy but at
home, work, they are like carnal people doing things unbelievers do. When
troubles come, they try God and also try other alternatives. This is wrong!
The letter in Revelations 3 was written to a church in Laodicea. It was not
written to unbelievers. That is to show you that God is angry with people in
church who are still sitting on the fence; those who are neither hot nor
cold.
Everywhere
in scripture, God calls for total commitment to Him from those who want to
serve Him. “And Elijah came unto all the
people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people
answered him not a word.” (I Kings 18:21). This led to
the killing of the prophets of baal because God was jealous. That day, the
children of Israel made up their minds to serve the only true God.
Beloved, on which
side of the fence are you; On God’s side or on the world’s side? “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not
that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will
be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4). If you keep
sitting on the fence, the enemy will still get you. Make up your mind today and
serve God.
