"Can a woman forget her sucking
child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they
may forget, yet will I not forget thee." (Isaiah 49:15). Have
you dwelt in that situation for so long that you now wonder whether God still
knows you exist. The children of Israel where in the same situation. They had
so gone into idolatry that God abandoned them in the hands of their enemy. This
lets you know that most times, what leaves believers in the state of Divine
abandonment is their sins. “Behold, the
LORD' hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that
it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God,
and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” (Isaiah
59:1-2). Sin is the separator. It is not in the nature of God to abandon His
children. As impossible as it is for a nursing mother to forget her suckling
child, that’s how it is with God and us.
However,
there are few exceptions when you are not walking in sin to the best of your
ability but things still are not working in your favour. In this case, it is
either that God wants you to learn to trust Him or to build you up or that the
enemies are on your case. It is up to you to discover which one it is and do
what you need to do. It is not a time to run from God and say God has failed
you. No! It is a time to draw closer to God. When you read further down our
opening scripture, you see the blessings that follow you when you hold on to
God in spite of the current circumstance.“Thus
saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand…And kings shall be thy
nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers…Even the captives of the
mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered:
for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy
children.” (Vs 22-25). Don’t give up! God has not forgotten you!
