FED UP!

(...continued...)

    “My God!” Cynthia shouted.
“What is it?” Mabel asked and Mama Risi stopped.
  “My back is on fire.”
“That is how it is,” Mama Risi reassured her.
  “Ok oo.”
After massaging for some minutes, Mama Risi was sweating profusely.
“Are you tired?” Mabel asked her.
“No oo. But you know I have not eaten since morning.”
  “That means you are tired.”
“Let me do a little more then it should be okay,” she said and continued.
After massaging for a little longer, she stopped.
“How are you feeling now?” she asked Cynthia.
  “On fire.”
“That means it is working. After a while, the pepperish pain will stop.”
“Thank you aunty,” Mabel said to her.
“What about the pain reliever?” Cynthia asked.
“I almost forgot. Mabel get water for her to take them.”
Mabel got a glass of water. Cynthia managed and sat up. She took the drugs and lay back down on the floor.
“Do you want to stay on the bed?” Mabel asked her.
“No. I am okay on the floor.”
“No problem. After a while, we will go and see doctor Obinna.”
  “Ok.”
Mama Risi stayed a while and then took her leave.
“Let me go. There is no one in my house and my other children can come back at any time.”
“Ok.” Mabel said to her. “You have tried.”
  “Take care of her o.”
“Ehe, how much did the drugs cost?”
  “Don’t worry about it.”
  “OK. Thank you.”
                Mama Risi left with Risi.
“Do you want to take anything?” Mabel asked Cynthia.
  “Maybe yoghurt and cake.”
“See you. You want to use this opportunity to eat everything you have not eaten before.”
                They laughed.
“It is ten minutes to the time Dr Obinna gave us.” Cynthia said. “Maybe when we go to see him.”
“Ok. That means you have to manage and dress up.”
“Let me lie for some minutes.”
“Ok. See how I am sweating. Do you think I need to bath?”
“Yes do. Just send Dr Obinna an SMS that we are on our way.”
Mabel sent the message and went to take a quick shower. While she was there, her phone started ringing.
“Mabel, your phone.” Cynthia told her.
  “Can you reach it?”
“No. It is far from me.”
  “Don’t worry about it.”
The phone rang three more times and stopped. Then Cynthia’s phone began to ring. It was in her bag close to  where Mabel kept her own phone.
  “Who is calling na?”

Mabel dried herself and came out to check who was calling. It was her mother.
