The rudder is a little instrument inside a ship and also inside an airplane. As big as the airplane is, it is the rudder that determines the direction of the plane. This corroborates what the scripture says in James 3:3-6, “Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.” Proverbs 18:21 also says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
It has also been proven scientifically that the speech part of the brain is connected to every other part and has some level of control over them. Your tongue is the rudder of your life. Your tongue determines the direction of your life. Whether you will succeed or not depends on what you say with your tongue. The tongue charts the course of your life. No matter how bad the situation is, if you speak the right words, in no distant time, you will come out of that situation. No matter how good your situation is, if you engage in wrong speaking, it is just a matter of time and things will turn sour for you. Just like the pilot uses the rudder to direct the plane, use your tongue to direct your life.
