A PILOT'S VIEW

By the way an airplane is made, the pilot is never meant to look outside of his windscreen (or whatever it is they call it). Everything he needs to navigate from where the airplane is to where he wants it to go to is inside the cockpit (or whatever it is they call it). It will be erroneous and naïve for a pilot to look out of the windscreen to know where the airplane is or to know the situation outside the airplane. Whenever there is a storm, the pilot doesn’t look out of the windscreen. He gets direction from two major sources; instruction from the control tower and direction from the equipments in the cockpit. No matter what the weather looks like, it is the result of these two that determines the pilot’s action. At times the weather outside is okay but when the control tower says “don’t move!”, the pilot stays put.

This is the same for us as children of God. We walk by faith and not by sight (sensory perception). “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18).  Our control tower is the Holy Spirit who is in us and leads us in the right path. We also have tangible equipments like the Bible, devotionals, and so on. We also have intangible equipments like Faith, hope, love, perseverance, patience, ability to hear from God, and so on.

Just like the pilot doesn’t consider the storm, you should not consider the situation around you. Your concern should be what the Word of God says about the situation. “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;” (2 Corinthians 4:17). Your concern should be the immediate instruction and direction coming from your control tower. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (I Corinthians 10:13). Take advantage of the control tower and other equipments you have. You have all it takes to weather the storm and get to your destination. Selah…
