DON’T SETTLE FOR CRUMBS

But he answered and said, "It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. (Matthew 15:26). Our opening scripture was an encounter Jesus had with a syrophoenician woman who came to meet Jesus with a request for her daughter who needed deliverance. When she finally met Jesus, His response was "It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.” The next verse says,“And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.” (Vs 27). Crumbs are very small quantities of food which drop on the floor when someone is eating or which are left on the plate after eating. That was what the woman settled for. If the crumb the woman got was enough to give her the miracle she needed, you can imagine what the bread in the plate could do.

One thing is very instructive in that discourse, bread is for legitimate children. Those who are not children of God are called dogs and are not entitled to any good thing from God. The little they have is allowed by grace and mercy but everything God has, rightfully belongs to those who are His. Beloved, are you a child of God? That is the only way you will get preference in anything that belongs to Him. Health, wealth, success and so on are freely available in the plate. Don’t settle for crumbs. Don’t settle for just enough. Who told you that you can’t be a millionaire? Who told you that you can’t marry a handsome rich man? Who told you that your children can’t be successful? Begin to think big. These are normal inheritances of children of God. If you are a child of God and you are still living in the crumbs of life, it means you are either walking in ignorance or you are not doing what you ought to do. From today, do away with the crumbs and enjoy the bread in every area of your life.
